George...

William is fascinated lately by this book! It features a puppy named George who holds a very surprising secret! I think he may be too young for it really, but even primary school aged kids will get a kick out of this one. When reading it, note how the duck is very badly drawn and looks far too much like a crow.

New Favorite

William loves this recent find! The title pretty much says it all, but there is a big surprise at the end! Very cute, nice bright pictures, has a nice moral side to it. We are reading this one a lot!

NO!

The "No!" album by They Might Be Giants is the most enjoyable kids album I have heard in years! The songs are enjoyed by young and old together and even JASON likes it! It is geared toward slightly older kids (4's and up) but William seems to like it as well. Best 14 bucks I ever spent! My favorite track is "John Lee Supertaster" because I am a supertaster and enjoy a song all about my super power. William likes No! the best and the Hippo song. They Might Be Giants also has a few other songs on other albums that are great for kids, one is "The Sun" and is a scientifically correct explanation of the sun, and I love the song about James K Polk, our 11th president. Very fun.

The "Small" Books...

Lois Lenski wrote a delightful series of books in the 30's and 40's about a little man and his various jobs. The Little Train is Will's current favorite. They are simple, easy to read to toddlers, and calm little books. Will loves them and will sit and look at them on his own for quite a while.

Duckie has had Enough!

We recently found this delightful book at a second hand store and I have never spent a better 50 cents! Duckie still wears diapers, and Pig doesn't. She gets inspired to get out of her cold, wet diaper and use the potty. It is cute and funny. I think kids and grownups alike will thoroughly enjoy this one.

Why...

I am creating this blog to post my FAVORITE Children's books, and to allow others to share their favorites with me. I get really tired of reading the same ones over and over again. I am sure other parents feel the same way. (And basically I secretly like to review others work and comment on it.)
